Executive Director at Qala Investments
Alex Tan is currently the Executive Director of Qala Investments, specialising in equity financing/funding of telecom infrastructure/assets and cyber security tech companies. In addition he provide consults in restructuring strategies, M&A, productization and GTM models.
Between 2016 to 2019, he was with M1 Limited as Chief Innovation Officer, helming the product development, ICT and Digital Solutions team, primarily involved with development of new and innovative products and services. He was responsible for the transformation and growth of strategic businesses and services beyond traditional telco connectivity.
Prior to M1, he joined IDA in 2013 as the Director for National Information Infrastructure. Overseeing development and industry growth of communications infrastructure. Concurrently, he assumed dual position of Senior Director for Next Generation Infrastructure and was responsible for the delivery of Singapore’s Smart Nation Platform.
He was also part of the M1 senior management team between 2009-2013, as Head of Product Development, Head of Enterprise Services and Enterprise Network and was concurrently responsible for the implementation of M1’s Next Generation Broadband Network (NGBN) and engineering operations for the Enterprise Data Centre and Networks.
Prior to M1, he was one of the Managing Directors and owners of QALA Singapore Pte Ltd and QMax group. While leading group operations at QALA and QMax, he was responsible for the first commercial WIMAX service in Singapore as well as the island wide deployment of Wi-Fi in Singapore under the Wireless@SG initiative by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore.
Equipped with over 18 years of industry and operational experience in data, technology and telecommunication products, he have played major roles in various national telecommunication projects by government agencies of Singapore.
